Vineyards-Bordeaux experts in vineyard transactions, Exclusive Affiliates to Christie’s International Real Estate, announce the acquisition of the shares of SARL Marcassin owner of Château de Fayolle, AOC Côtes de Bergerac located in Saussignac, including stock, to US investors Frank and Riki Campbell. Xavier Renoux from Taj-Deloitte Legal law firm represented the buyers and Louis-Joseph de Coincy from and Tiphaine Brissez of Aloy law firm represented the sellers.
The Sellers, Mr and Mrs Julian Taylor, acquired the property in 2011. Attracted by the terroir and setting the Taylors invested heavily both in the winery and in restructuring to create a selection of very high-quality wines. The estate covers almost 50 hectares and includes a lake while the vineyards are approximately 13 hectares of elevated gravel clay and limestone soils on slopes producing their top wine “Sang de Sanglier” as well as “Château de Fayolle” both red and white wines.
The Buyers, Mr and Mrs Campbell, are originally from the USA but have been living and working in Europe for many years. Following an extensive search over two years they focused on Château de Fayolle as a perfect combination of wine production quality and lifestyle attributes. They will live at the chateau permanently and have a business plan to develop wine tourism, on site wine sales from a shop premises and international marketing.
Built on a strategic and elevated location, Château de Fayolle is a walled medieval castle surrounded by its vines. It is sold with stock, fully equipped winery, swimming pool complex, chapel and staff cottage. The entire team currently working on the property will remain following the transaction. The sale of Château de Fayolle is a significant transaction for the Côtes de Bergerac and draws attention to the very high-quality terroirs and the increasingly outstanding wines that are found along the “côtes” above the Dordogne and the Bergerac region.
