Château Prieuré Sainte-Anne
Appellation
AOC Cotes de Bordeaux Cadillac
Vendor
Hervé and Suzanne Flipo
Acquirers
Mr and Mrs Herwig and Annelies Callewier-Corne of Belgium
Hervé and Suzanne Flipo, the seller, purchased the chateau residence in 1998 and then acquired the vines in 2003. They managed to assemble parcels of some of the finest terroir in the former Premieres cotes de Bordeaux slopes near Capian before building a new chai in 2005. The well drained southerly slopes of gravel terroir are remarkable in that they have consistent harvests each year, even during a challenging vintage such as 2017.
The new owner has purchased the 8.15 ha estate with its 4.45 hectares of vines, Girondine “Maison de Maître” and gardens which include swimming pool, tennis court and large specimen trees. Mr Callewier said “we are so impressed by the care and attention to detail not only in the vines and chai but equally the house and its gardens. The results are clearly evident in the very high quality of the wines produced”.
Client's Perspective
We have poured our heart into Le Prieuré Sainte Anne over 20 years and we are delighted to have been a part of its long history. It is the end of a rich chapter for us and we are looking forward to supporting the new owner for the next year while they transition.
We are averaging about one vineyard transaction per month in 2018 so far - the Bordeaux vineyard market remains buoyant with enquiries up on last year and increasing interest from France and European investors.
