Vineyards-Bordeaux honoured in Master’s Circle Inauguration

Karin Maxwell and Michael Baynes were both individually awarded inaugural members of the Christie’s International Real Estate launch year (2019) for the Masters Circle. Their inauguration acknowledges their outstanding work and expertise in the world of French vineyard transactions and in particular amongst the vineyards of Bordeaux.

Christie’s International Real Estate have established the Master’s Circle to identify experts in particular areas of specialist luxury real estate amongst the 31,000 sales associates working within 1,350 luxury real estate offices from 140 companies in 48 countries that make up the Christie’s International Real Estate affiliation world-wide.

Other vineyard specialists from the Christie’s International Real Estate global network have also been awarded this prestigious title. These include: Riccardo Romolini (Tuscany vineyards), Ricardo Alves da Costa (Portugal) and Mike Greef ( South Africa).

Vineyard transactions and specifically French vineyard transactions bring with them a particular expertise that covers a wide range of knowledge, resource and experience. Unlike most other luxury real estate transactions, the purchase and sale of a (Bordeaux) vineyard will cover most of the following stages once an investor/client has contacted the Vineyards-Bordeaux team:

  • Research list of potential Targets both on and off market
  • Prepare Strategy Overview with the Client to ensure there is a strategy match with Targets
  • Review valuation and potential deal structures for Target
  • Instruction, engagement and Co-ordination with the local professional team (and if needed translation services).
  • Co-ordination of visits to the target vineyards
  • Preparation of the Information Memorandum for target vineyard
  • Preparation of schedule of purchase costs (and taxes) for vineyard acquisition
  • Management of the negotiation process in French and English
  • Co-ordinate and Oversee the Due Diligence and risk analysis

  • Drafting and Negotiation of Letter of Intent

  • Monitoring and reviewing of all the payments relating to the transaction.
